Million Paws Walk 18 May 2008

Greetings Members,
Just a short email to thank all our team members who came along and participated in whatever capacity on the weekend. Thanks especially to Allana and Lauren who came along even though their own dog was not competing and were on their feet all day boxloading and ball shagging and helping handle dogs for some of us out of the ring.
A job well done by our trainee judges who seem to be making good progress.
Both our teams had their share of good luck and bad, but all had a great day.

Our next competition is the State of Origin hosted by Pine Rivers on the June Long Weekend. We look like having one team for this event.

See you all training on Friday night at 6:30pm.

Pine River State of Origin Comp 7 June 2008

Just a quick email to share our success at the Pine Rivers Comp on the weekend. With an interesting line up, we finished first with some of our best times in a long time. Our best time of the day was 19.325, with several other times under the 20 second mark.
All dogs and handlers worked hard and performed well. Delta was forced to bow out early due to illness, though I hear she should be home from the Vet Hospital in a few days. Lizzy despite having some trouble at the previous competition performed flawlessly, Adgie did all she was asked and then some. Yogi helped us out in a few spots with his trademark reliability along with the always solid performance of Marbles and even Zaq seemed to forget his left lane issues for a change.
Fairfield, particularly were close competition and it was nice to win one again to keep the rivalry happening between our clubs! Pine Rivers even kept us on our toes a few times too. They organised an excellent day which ran really well.
Our Judges In Training continue to work towards their goal. Jo did a marvellous job as her first appointment in the ring under Vicki Kennelly's guidance and all teams were supportive, which is a great thing about us Queenslanders! Our newest AFA Junior member Sarah was enthusiastically assisting all day with everything from ball shagging and learning the game, to strapper for Marbles and selling raffle tickets.
From all accounts everyone had a great day and we look forward to the next comp, being ours, on Sat 26th July.

At presentations it was mentioned that we are keen to get together for a QAFA meeting to help drive things forward more in our region. Please watch this space for more news or email me your input to pass on!

QLD Flyball Challenge 26th July 2008

At our recent competition, Queensland Flyball Challenge, Awesome Pawsome One claimed their division and ultimately the Champions Trophy, with a best time of 19.699 seconds.
Awesome Pawsome Three also performed well, but were out of champion's trophy contention in their division, and their best time was 26.311 seconds.
All handlers and dogs worked hard and had lots of fun.

Special thanks to Rosie and Jo, for judging all day, to Keith for being AFA Rep, to Steve for the variety of things he always manages to do at once for us, to Kevin and Jen for timekeeping, to Allana, Shane and Lauren for helping with everything from the timing table, to stats to ball shagging, and to Sarah for a stellar performance on the PA. Thanks also to the little Sarah who ball shagged for most of the day for our teams and Paws of Noosa.
Thanks one and all for a great day.

Training is on as usual this Friday night from 6:30 and help will be needed to return all our belongings to the shed.

This weekend we have our next competition, the Pine Rivers Show, with largely the same teams in play.

Pine Rivers Show 3rd August 2008

Another Awesome Win!

Greetings All,
On the weekend we sent two teams to compete at the Pine Rivers Show on a beautiful winter's day.
Awesome Pawsome One claimed the first division, edging out the Fanatic Flyballers and increasing our interclub rivalry.
Awesome Pawsome Three unfortunately were unable to beat the competition on the day, but all members of their team worked incredibly hard all day.
Temptations and distractions included: motorbikes, horses, chickens and other farm animals of all shapes and sizes - even a big black kite that tried to spook the ring!
Congratulations to all who participated - it was a great competition.
Our provisional judges continue to chip away at their requirements and before we know it we will have an abundance of judges again.
Now is the time to get back into training hard as the Fanatic Flyballers will be keen to win at their own competition in September.
Remember if you have something you would like to work on at training you need to email the Head Coach, Steve, so that he may give feedback and incorporate this into training for you.
His email address is: k9sports@optusnet.com.au

Congratulations and Thank You to all our team members.
