A winters day turned into a warm day
for dogs and handlers at the Pine rivers show. Awesome
Pawsome initially had three teams, but due to illnesses
outside their control, were reduced to two, just days
before. Harvey the cocker spaniel was brought into the first
team to help
out. Awesome Pawsome Two kept their
scheduled list of dogs.

A long day featured our normal
team
racing along with singles and
pairs , and a training demonstration by Jo and Crash at the
lunch break. A six team event for this competition with
Bundaberg club Luv-a-dog coming down, as well as two teams
from Pine Rivers and a team from Fairfield Fanatics |

Awesome Pawsome One started well. Jo, as
captain did well to swap around combinations of the new
group of dogs that formed the first team. They had many
exciting races, showing their skills as experienced flyballers, Unfortunately not enough heats won to ensure
first place, but came in at second place behind Pine Rivers.

 |
Awesome Pawsome Two came out firing with their first two
races won. The third race was a battle which they lost. They
came back with vengeance and won each race after that. The
second team with several new dogs this year, and with
experienced dogs were looking strong as a new formation, and
proved themselves well with a first place for the second
competition in a row. |
|
Singles and pairs are becoming a popular feature
of
flyball competitions. Our club had several
entries for these two races. Inca, Lizzy, Talin, Cinda,
Bonnie, Arlie, Toli, Cooper, Misty and Sasha were some of
our dogs participating.
This
is a great opportunity for beginner dogs and inexperienced
handlers, as well as experienced handlers to test out their
abilities and confidence in a competition environment. |

It was another exciting day of flyball racing. The event
was enjoyable, and the atmosphere of preforming at a large
public show, contributes to the fun of this dog sport. As
always, it is made easier by all our members who chip in to
help with box-loading, stewarding, setting up equipment,
stats, ball-shagging and other duties that come with the
day. A big thanks to all those who helped out. |
