FLYBALL COMES TO THE GOLD COAST

Awesome Pawsome enjoyed a highly successful weekend at the Gold Coast Pet and Animal Expo Recently.

Hosting the competition involving 5  teams, including a team from Pine Rivers, one from Flyball  Fanatics, and Luv-a-dog regardless.

The Awesome Pawsome teams each won their divisions to  contend for the Champions Trophy. In a very competitive race Awesome  Pawsome Two took out the trophy proving that speed isn't everything!
Congratulations to AP2!

Awesome Pawsome Two win Champions Trophy

Awesome Pawsome wish to thank the Gold Coast City Council for their  generous support of our club by providing the fencing and setting up  of the fencing for the flyball arena at the Expo as well as providing  the sashes and rosettes for competitors.

We thank Competition Organiser Jo Parkes for undertaking the huge task of organising the two day competition in a very short timeframe and attracting much media attention to our sport, including presentations
done by the Bondi Vet himself, Dr Chris Brown!

Our Queensland  flyballers appeared in The Gold Coast Bulletin and also on Gold Coast  Channel 9 and Brisbane Channel 10. See below for clips of these.

A highlight of the day was Brian and Misty's perfect start of 0.000 - a very difficult thing to achieve - it is technical accuracy like this that allow a team to be competitive in the Champion's Trophy!

It was a weekend for everyone from Beginners to Advanced Handlers in all clubs with everyone getting a chance to be involved.

Less experienced dogs and handlers had opportunity over the lunchbreaks to showcase their developing skills to the eager crowd.

Singles and Pairs racing was a highlight of the weekend and many that were unavailable for both days were able to come along and participate on one day.
Running Singles and Pairs gave handlers an opportunity to practise their starts and race with dogs they

might not normally race with, was lots of fun for both dogs and handlers and will be a popular format to
include in future competitions.
