Fun Singles and Pairs competition to raise money for the Nationals:  Hosted by Fairfield at the Fairfield RSPCA grounds on Sunday 5th November.  Entries close on Tues 31 October, payment can be made on the day. Entry form here, please email to Rebecca White Mobile: 0402 314 794

NB: THIS IS NOT AN AFA SANCTIONED COMPETITION. SO YOU DON’T NEED TO BE A MEMBER OF THE AFA TO PARTICIPATE. (Dogs in training for competitions are able to enter)

Web-Site Updates:  Updated Members page, removed non-financial members, updated points from lastest listing on AFA web-site.  The points from the September 9th competition are not available yet, so we have a few more dogs that have qualified for titles than this page indicates.  Dog Profiles linked to the Dogs page have been moved to individual pages for each dog.   Added Documents link and page to web-site.
Competition Dates for next year and 2007 Calendar: Next year we are hoping to stage more competitions in conjunction with events attended by the public to help publicise the sport of flyball.  We are looking for suggestions for venues and events, please let us know by email, or at training if you know of an event that might be good to check out.  Particularly if it is in Late March or Late April or early May.  To maximise attendance by those in the Dog Sport Community we are trying to avoid staging competitions on days that other major events are on.  To assist, Awesome Pawsome's 2007 calendar will include events from other dogs sport activities hosted in the greater Brisbane area.  (Please feel welcome to submit dates to the webmaster for inclusion on the calendar.)
Dogtoberfest: Hosted by Calamvet Flyers at Meakin park, five teams got together to play flyball on Saturday October 28th.  Awesome Pawsome submitted one team (Keith and Lizzie, Kerrie and Adgie, Betty and Bonnie, Anne and Delta, Kerry and Misty, Steve and Marbles) , and came second in Division One.   Thanks Karen and Denis for coming along to help.
September 2006 Love is in the Air:  Congratulations - Karen and Denis (proud trainers of Inca and Toli), were married on the 16th September, and are back from a two week honeymoon Motoring around New Zealand.  All the best from all of us!
Flyball on the Oval: The first singles and pairs competition was hosted by QAFA in conjunction with Awesome Pawsome's competition on 9 September 2006.  Harvey (Sarah's cocker spaniel) was overall singles champion, and Pac (Rosie) and Delta (Anne) were the overall pairs champions.  Awesome Pawsome fielded two teams (after some late withdrawals due to illness).  Awesome Pawsome One came first in Division One, and Awesome Pawsome 2 came third in Division Two. Results here
July 2006 Farewell Rosie:  The house is sold, and the Miltons are moving...  club members got together on Thursday night (7 Sept 2006) at the Annual General Meeting to say their farewells.  Rosie was given lifetime membership of Awesome Pawsome.
Queenland Flyball Challenge. Hosted during the Mt Gravatt show on 29 July we had a good team turnout.  Awesome Pawsome fielded a division One and a Division three team, and came first in both divisions.   Results here
NAFC2007 There is a web-site under development which will be a repository of information about the upcoming Nationals to be held in Queensland.  http://nafc2007.webhop.info/
June 2006 Rosie Milton and John Milton:  are looking to relocate to NSW in the not too distant future, which unfortunately means we will not get to see them as much as would like.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank them both for their contribution to flyball, particularly here in Queensland, and at Awesome Pawsome,  you will both be missed, though Rosie says she is still keen to run with Awesome Pawsome when we go south for competitions in Canberra and Kiola.  Rosie was one of the founding members of Awesome Pawsome, and is currently the secretary of the AFA (Australian Flyball Association).  John has been a regular fixture at flyball competitions in Queensland especially in the role of timekeeper.
Fundraising:  All the Queensland teams are trying to raise funds to help us host the Flyball Nationals in 2007.  Marietta and Kerry from Calamvet Flyball are taking on the role of fundraising co-ordinators for the club.  If you are able to assist please let us know your ideas or how you can help at training.
May 2006 Million Paws Walk went well on 21st May.. We had two teams entered, one in division two, and one in division one.  Our Awesome Pawsome Two team came  third (of five) and Awesome Pawsome One came third (or three).  Unfortunately due to withdrawal due to illness and injury The Division One team had to withdraw from competition part way through the event, and run non-competitively.  Delta and Yogi should be ready to run again in the next competition on 10-11 June (Right Royal Rollick hosted by Pine Rivers). Photos here!
April 2006 NEWS ALERT!!!:  The National Australian Flyball Challenge in 2007 (NAFC2007 for short) is going to be held in Queensland in 2007.  A consortium of Queensland Flyball Clubs including Awesome Pawsome, Pine Rivers Flyball Club, Fairfield Fanatics, Homeless Hounds and Calamvet Flyball club successfully bid to hold the NAFC in Queensland in 2007.  It is planned the event will be staged in Redcliffe.  If you want to see the presentation that was given to the AFA as part of the bid, it can be downloaded by right-clicking and Save target as here.  (It is 15MB in size, so please save the file NAFC2007.exe to your computer and open it after it has been saved, it will not run properly if you try to open it directly from the internet.  After you have run the file it will create an icon on your desktop called NAFC2007 you can use to run it again.).  There is a lot of work that will need to be done between now and then, if you think you can help please let Rosie know.
Congratulations to both Awesome Pawsome teams! Both teams performed well at the Aprils Antics competition hosted by Calamvet Flyball Club at Meakin Park on Saturday 8th April coming first in their divisions.  In addition to some great team performances, Lorraine and Mickey won the judge's encouragement award for Division Two, and Anne and Delta won the encouragement award for Division One.  A special thank-you to those who came along to help out who didn't have dogs competing (including Denise Crook and Vicky Plant.).  The next competition is the Million Paws Walk hosted by Fairfield at St Lucia on 20th May.  Please let Rosie know if you want to compete or can help out.
